Executives of the Association of Turkish-British Journalists (ATBJ), which operates in London, the capital of the United Kingdom, visited the ‘BBC Yorkshire’ building in the city of Leeds.
Tim Smith, Deputy Director of BBC Yorkshire, welcomed TİGB President Alpaslan Düven, TİGB Vice President Aynur Tattersall, and reporters working in various media organizations at the entrance.
Providing information to the journalists—who visited Leeds as guests of the UK Foreign Office and Leeds City Council—Tim Smith emphasized the growing importance of local news. He stated that BBC Yorkshire broadcasts flagship regional programs such as Look North, Inside Out, Late Kick Off, and Politics Show.
After the meeting, which lasted approximately one hour, Smith answered questions from the journalists and then gave them a tour of the building.
During the meeting, TİGB President Alpaslan Düven also informed Tim Smith about the association’s activities. In a statement regarding the visit, Düven said:
“We had the opportunity to closely observe a world-leading broadcasting organization like the BBC. During our visit to the BBC Yorkshire building, we toured the studios where live broadcasts are conducted, as well as the BBC radio services and news centers. It was a highly beneficial experience.”
